Kentucky is quickly becoming an industry leader in electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing, EV battery production, and is leading the charge to develop the infrastructure needed to support the growth in this field. With substantial funding over the next couple of years, EV-related jobs will emerge for many Kentuckians along with many other economic development opportunities.
Since June 2020, Governor Beshear has overseen over $11.6 billion in EV-related investments, with over 10,125 full-time jobs announced. This includes the two largest economic development projects ever in Kentucky, the Ford Motor Co. and SK On (BlueOvalSK Battery Park) with a $5.8 billion investment and 5,000 jobs and Envision AESC, a $2 billion investment and 2,000 jobs.
Kentucky is poised for significant investment in the coming years as the Commonwealth positions itself as a national leader in the growing electric vehicle (EV) market and in EV battery production.
